What I wore {Sunday Style}

Today's What I wore Wednesday is actually What I wore Sunday. I wanted to share this little ditty because well I got more compliments on Sunday at church from all the adorable relief society sisters than I could count and because I love this outfit. It is so simply yet so girlie. I love to feel girlie and cute. I love to get dressed up and I love to wear pink especially when there are ruffles involved. The best part this whole outfit from head to toe costs about $40 yup that's right, exciting huh. I am here to say you do not have to spend a fortune to look and feel fashionable. Look for the deals, shop smart and know where to go.

Shirt // Target
Heels // Steve Madden
Necklace // American Eagle

Sundays for me are very special. They are relaxing yes, but they are a day I get to go to church to learn and feel the spirit, to get inspiration and receive the strength I need for the coming week. Sundays to me are about family and reflecting on what is truly important in this life.

I love to dress up for church. I think it is great that we get to feel our very best when we are in such a beautiful place. I love seeing my sweet boys folding their arms in their little tiny vests and ties. I love when I make us all match like a sappy sappy cheesy family. I love every minute of it. Now church is not easy by any means with two rambunctious little boys but it is the little moments that I have to focus on. Watching my sweet Maddux find his seat in his sunbeam class while folding his arms, hearing Holden belt out and love every minute of singing time, that makes me feel like I am doing something right. That I am teaching them and showing them what is important.

Speaking of kids at church, last week was Holden's first day of nursery. At first I was like oh my happy day, and then I got a little emotional. Yes I am THAT mom. I was sad that he wouldn't ever be sitting on my lap in relief society as the ladies oo and aww over him anymore, I realized that he is growing and he is growing very fast and well it makes me sad. I know that is part of life but it is really hard as a parent when it just goes by so fast .It makes me think of how important the time is that I do have them with me. How important it is to soak it all in, to play with them, to give them the love and attention they need, to hold them, to comfort them, and to teach them.

Sundays are my sanity.
Family is my sanity and the two together is what holds me together.
This next Sunday relax, meditate, worship if that's apart of you
and hold your family oh so tight.
Use that day to give you the strength to get through the next week with
grace and fill it with great memories.

Potty Training tips {with Cottonelle Clean Care Routine}

“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Cottonelle but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #CtnlCareRoutine  http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

Last year I wrote a POST sharing my favorite tip and how we got my son to stop using his binky. It was a hit and I had a lot of other questions coming in that had to do with raising my toddler. I am no expert by any means in fact most of the time I have no idea what I am doing when it comes to being a mom, but when I find something that has worked I love to share it because well who doesn't love a little help every once in a while. Now that being said, every kid and mom is different but advice is good and you can always try it out or use parts of it. With my first son growing so fast I feel like it is always something new that we are doing or learning. After taking away the binky it was time to start potty training. We potty trained last September and today I am going to be sharing some of my tips when it comes to potty training, what worked and what didn't, etc. Now I have to start out by saying potty training was probably the thing I dreaded the most that I knew I had to do being a mom, next to cleaning up throw up. I was super nervous about it so I am going to share with you what worked for us so you can skip the worry and stress.

Cottonelle is the brand I love and I am always looking for a deal, I was in luck because there is a great coupons available. $1.50 off the toilet paper & $2 off the flushable cleansing cloths
and a $5 movie credit through Vudu when you buy both. Make sure to shop at Walmart to take advantage of these two great offers because well everyone needs toilet paper. Am I right? We might as well get the best at a great deal and a movie out of it too. When you purchase BOTH items in store in the month of February you will receive a $5 Vudu offer. Vudu is like RedBox and offers HD movies. To receive the offer you need to do the following:
Take a picture of the receipt showing that you purchased both items.
Text or email your picture to clean@drvsusa.com
You will receive a text or email back with a code valid for a $5 movie credit
You can get more information by going to www.DRVSusa.com/cottonellemovies

First things first. Do NOT push them. Now I say that with a little bit of caution. I am a firm believer in waiting until your child can understand what going in the potty is. Now that could be a different age for every child. Some may be ready quicker than others. I would not put an age of when you should potty train because like I said it all depends on them and you. For example my second son is 18 months old right now and there is no way in the world that he is even close to ready. Now that doesn't mean that we don't talk to him about it. We are always telling him what the potty is for and since he has an older brother I think he will be interested a little bit sooner, but for now we are getting him ready by talking to him about it. Now my first son never showed interest. I am dead serious. He was over 3 and about to start preschool and did not want to use the potty. We were waiting until he was showing interest and well that was going to be never. So I learned that waiting until they are ready is not the same as waiting until they show interest. He was not interested but he was ready. He was old enough to understand and he caught on so much quicker because of that. I would much rather wait until they can understand then push them too early and have way more headaches. Because we waiting until he was ready {which again can be different ages for each child} he was completely potty trained no accidents after a week and a half.

Next, what type of potty is the best to use while potty training? Well we used them all haha. I figured they were cheap enough that i would get both types. But really since he was so much older and caught on so quick we mostly used the attach to the big potty kind. The small sit on the floor potty is great to get them interested and to start out with. Most kids would be more comfortable with a potty more their size. Then we graduated to the sit on the big potty type, this one is great for when they are doing really well potty training but just don't feel comfortable going on the big potty yet. My son was scared he would fall in. Their bums are so little and I can see why that would make them nervous.We used that attachment until he was ready to go without it. Usually they will learn quickly to go on the regular potty after they have had to go at someone slse's home or at a store. I am not one to take a potty seat around with me every where I go, use moms have enough to tote around with us.

My next tip is to use a reward system. I think rewarding your child for good behavior is a great way to help them get excited about something new. I didn't want this to be all about the rewards so I caped it off to filling up two potty charts as soon as the charts were full we were done with the rewards each time. That again can be different on the progress of your child. If you feel like you need to go a little longer there is nothing wrong with that. The system for the chart I used was very simple. Each time he went #1 he put one sticker on the chart, each time he went #2 he got to put 2 stickers on the chart. But here is the catch if he had a #1 accident he had to take a sticker off, and if he had a #2 accident he had to take 2 stickers off. Each time he went he got a little penny candy or a couple m&ms, when he filled up a whole row {5 stickers} which he filled up really quickly he got a treat or a dollar store toy {we rotated each time, and when he filled up the whole chart he got to go to target and pick out a $5-10 toy!

My next tip is to use Cottonelle Clean Care routine products to help for the comfort of your child. Not only is it more comfortable for them, because it is the softest toilet paper I have ever used, but the flushable wipes are a great transition from the baby wipes they have used their whole little lives.

I love the flush able wipes for potty training and for toddlers because they are so so easy, they are cleaner and they can do it themselves easier,then just patting themselves dry with the toilet paper.

Sometimes being a mom is super hard. I always say it is the hardest but most rewarding job out there. There is a lot to teach, a lot to learn, a lot of patients required, a lot of messes, a lot of mistakes, a lot of love, a lot of breakdowns from kids and mom, a lot of hard times, a lot of amazing times, a lot of practice and well we are just each trying to be the best we can and giving the best to our children. We simply want to be the best we can and are afraid of failing. But they love us and we love them and we learn from each other and from other moms. So give yourself some credit because well YOU do A LOT and you are AMAZING!!! I love all you moms and women out there I am learning from each of you so keep it up.

Crossfit with Albion Fit {GIVEAWAY}

All Photos Credit Jonie Sumsion
Clothing- Albion Fit
Gym- Crossfit Kimokeo Kaysville, Utah

Lets start from the beginning. I have always had a love for fitness. Since I did gymnastics for ten years and it was who I was for those ten years. I put all my blood, sweat, many tears and my heart into that sport. I loved the way it made me feel, the accomplishment, competing, and all the life lessons I learned from the sport, my coaches and teammates. Then my senior year my dream of being a college gymnast was well crushes when I found out I had fractured my lower back in three different places. I was heart broken. I stayed involved and coached, which was amazing but it just wasn't the same. I didn't know how to work out, gymnastics was fun yes it was a crazy workout but I had no clue what do to in a gym.

Now I'm in college. Brand new city, roommates, feeling like a baby and well out of shape. I started going to the college gym and it was good and kept me exercising but the void of gymnastics was never filled. Then a couple years later I discovered my love of running. I was sprinter in high school and hated long distants but somehow, some way I fell in love with long distance running. I trained for a half marathon twice and both times got pregnant while training lol. It was not my time. So I kept running and doing some fun 5ks.

Then once I had my last little man I decided it was time to challenge myself so I joined a Ragnar team {You can read about my ragnar experience HERE} and wow was that crazy. It was amazing, exhausting, fun, crazy and I was freakin pumping the whole time but I am so grateful I did it. After that I was hooked it was time for me to do the half I had been wanting to do for years. I trained and trained and ran my first half in September of 2013. I did it under 2 hours, didn't stop, got emotional throughout it and loved every freaking second. I was so proud. I loved it and I think I always will, in fact my next goal is to run a full marathon, but there was still something missing. Looking back I had no clue what that was or if I would ever know.

Then my little brother moved in with us and he started talking to us about crossfit. He had been doing it for a while and knew his stuff. I had heard of it, heck, I had even watched the crossfit games in complete awe but I could never do that. That just wasn't for me. Well after some convincing I was getting really excited and my brother built a little crossfit gym in our garage. Now this was super make-shift but it worked for us and it was a lot of fun. We started doing modified crossfit workouts in our garage from the end of August 2013 through December 2013. It was getting cold and kind of miserable doing it in the garage by the time December rolled around. Then I got thinking about how I maybe wanted to take this to the next level. Oh man again looking back I had no clue what I was getting myself into.

I thought about just going to a crossfit gym once a week to learn from a coach and be around other people. I knew I could learn a lot more that way. I posted a picture on instagram asking about boxes, how much they were, if they accepted visitors and so on. Then my cute friend Katelyn told me about a gym in Kaysville, Crossfit Kimokeo! Kaysville? I live in West valley I would be passing all these gyms to go to that one that is silly. But for some reason I thought I just had to give it a try so my very first WOD there was a memorial WOD for the owners amazing brother T.J. who had passes away, way too young. I wish I could have met him. That day the gym was packed full of all the people who loved him and wanted to celebrate him, it was crazy and I was so nervous. Oh P.S. when I first got there I locked my workout shoes and my keys in the car. Ugh. So I went through the workout and fell in love. Seriously not knowing why I needed to go there, or what this place could offer me. The people were amazing the atmosphere was amazing and I just knew I had to give this place a shot.

Please if you are in Davis county or close to Kaysville at all you have got to go and check this gym out. I will even workout with you if you want. They know their stuff, they are super welcoming and its like a party there! Check them out on facebook HERE. You can also email me @ wjwiki07@hotmail.com with any questions or email Crossfit kimokeo @ crossfitkimokeo@gmail.com and tell them I sent you.

 So I went the next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday all the next week and I couldn't stop going. I started there the middle of December and am still there today 2 months later and can't imagine going anywhere else. So why do I love crossfit so much? It is filling that void. You know the piece of me that was missing since my gymnastics days as a teen. That passion of mine was back. This isn't just working out to me anymore I am training. I am a part of something and I am loving where it is taking me. I am registering for the open in a couple weeks and I am so excited to see where time and really hard work will take me. in the future.

 So my point is to find your passion. Find something that you are good at that you feel good doing. Push yourself and get moving. There is some kind of exercise plan out there for you. It may be crossfit it may not, it may be running and it may not, but there is something that you will just click with and you will love yourself and the way you feel while you are doing it.Find that passion.

Along with my love of working out, I have a love with fitness clothing. What girl doesn't like to look good when you workout. There is something about when you feel good about yourself you work harder. At least I do. I am all about cute fitness clothes, that are high quality. That for me is Albion Fit. At Home Workout #4

 First off a little fitness journey update for ya'll. I am still doing Crossfit. But not so much in my garage except some 2nd workouts and practicing. No, you see I have decided to take my fitness to the next level and have transitioned from working out to training. I now am a part of the Crossfit Kimokeo {located in Kaysville, Utah contact me for more info} family and absolutely love it there. I do classes and some personal training, have an amazing coach and have big big goals with some exciting stuff coming up, that I cannot wait to share with you all. I am at the gym 5-6 days a week, it has become such a huge part of my life and I feel so blessed to be apart of it all.

Speaking of fitness, it has been a while since I posted an at home workout for all you busy peeps out there and my email has been flooding with requests. Today I will be sharing another great workout my coach had me do yesterday at home and I will be posting a lot more workouts to come so make to be checking back.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Make sure to start out with a good warm up. To get some great warm up ideas check my posts HERE and HERE

Let's take a closer look at each exercise before we get started....

SIT UP

First lets start with crossfit sit ups. This is pretty much just like any other sit up but you are going to bend your knees, open your hips and put the bottoms of your feet together in a butterfly position like the picture above then you will proceed with the sit up until you touch the ground in front of your toes.  Lay back and bring yours arms above your head, then using your abs and pulling your back down to the mat sit up, lay back down and repeat.

AIR SQUAT

Air Squats- Start in a standing position with your feet about shoulder width apart. Before you do the squat it is important that when you are squatting down to keep your torso vertical, your weight on your heels, knees push out- tracking over the feet. Then when you squat down you will keep your eyes forward and slightly up, your arms out for balance, and squat down until the crease of your hips are at or below your knee, tuck your bum under and squeeze your abs in,  keeping a good lumbar curve and chest up, then stand back up and repeat.

DOUBLE UNDERS

Next up double unders. You will need a jump rope for this one. But really it is worth it go to walmart and get one for $5. A double under is just what is sounds like the rope will go around twice in the amount of time that you jump and your feet hit back to the ground. This is obviously a quick movement and is amazing cardio. Do you remember doing these in elementary school during recess? Yeah well now we are old and they are a lot trickier lol I learned that the hard way. Double unders get some getting used to it is all about the timing, work on them, practice and while you are working on them you can substitute double the amount of single jump ropes until you get them down.

Tank & Sports Bra in One  // Old Navy
